I’ve eaten nothing but ice cream all day.

hobbit—darren:

If you took my carefully labeled cookie dough ice cream, I will personally kill you.

My congratulations to the bride and groom!

Jaime smiled a little. “It’s okay. Just twelve days.” Twelve days seemed like forever. She couldn’t wait to see him. In person. “Just 288 hours.” She said with a small smile.

Joey smiled when Jaime did. “Did you just do that in your head?” Joey said, laughing. There was a knock on the door, and Joey was reminded that he was going out with Brant for the night. “Oops, sorry Jaime, I gotta go. But I’ll see you very soon!” Joey told her.

Jaime sighed. She didn’t want to make him feel bad. She just wanted him to know that she really missed him a lot and that he meant a lot to her. “I’m really proud of how well you’re doing Mr. Disney superstar.” Jaime laughed. “And I know you would I just- I miss you.” She kept saying it as if he was just gonna say “Hey Jaime it’s okay I’ll just hop on a plane and be there in a few hours.” But honestly the reason she kept saying it was because she always just said what came to mind around Joey and everytime she talked to him, how much she missed him was at the front of her mind the entire time.

Joey sighed. “I miss you too, Jaime.” He wished he could kiss her. He wanted to be there, holding her in his arms, but he couldn’t. Twelve days from now seemed like such a long time away.

Jaime giggled and smiled. “I never heard the end of that one!! Julia talked about it nonstop for like a month!! And I was the person who had to listen to all her rants about how Brian was a big ass hole.” She smiled. “You know I’m really happy you’re finding work in L.A., but honestly, this show isn’t as fun without you.” She was starting to depressen the mood and she hated it, but she couldn’t help it. She missed him more than she would let anyone know.

“I wish I was there to do it with you guys. I keep landing auditions, though, so I guess that’s good.” Joey loved how their conversations could flow seamlessly from one topic to the next, without any awkward silences. It was as if they were…made for each other. “You know I’d be there if I could.”

Jaime smiled a little. The awkwardness still hung in their coversation. It was odd. Things had never been awkward with Joey. “He’s not all the way insane yet, but he’s getting there. Slowly but surely he’s driving us all crazy.” She laughed. When she saw his beautiful crooked smile, all the awkwardness melted away and she felt as if it were just her and Joey, her best friend, hanging out again. She loved it.

Joey loved how, no matter what had previously happened, he could still act like himself around Jaime. He wanted to be with her, to apologize for being dumb face-to-face, but the distance wouldn’t allow for that. How would everything end up working out if they lived so far away? Surely, Jaime would be able to find another guy in Chicago. He, on the other hand, wasn’t nearly as outstandingly attractive as all of the other guys in Los Angeles and would have a hard time finding another girl. “Remember that one time that he and Julia got into that huge fight and they both turned purple from yelling so much?” Joey giggled at the memory.

Jaime smiled a little. “Joey, I’d love to move to L.A. I just don’t know if I can. I mean I have a life, a job, everything. In Chicago.” She wanted to say yes so badly. They had been best friends forever. Why was she so afraid to move in with him? Deep down she knew it was because she was afraid of getting her heartbroken and then being stuck living with him, but somehow, she still felt safe with him. “Can I- Can I just think about it? I mean I can’t leave till after this show is over with anyway. Can I just have some time to think about and give you an answer when you come to Chicago?” She asked. She didn’t want to hurt his feelings and she really did want to be able to see him more often. She just wasn’t completely sure it was a good idea right now.

Joey wanted to hide in a hole forever. How could he be so stupid? Of course Jaime didn’t want to move in. Moving in meant a sort of permanence, and they weren’t even close to ready for that kind of thing yet. “Yeah, we can talk about it when I get there. But don’t feel pressured into moving here, I completely understand if you don’t want to.” Joey tried to get back to his normal, goofy self and change the subject. “Speaking of the show, has Holden gone absolutely crazy yet?”

Jaime looked comepletly dumbfounded. “You want me to move in with you? Like in L.A.?” She really liked Joey, but she wasn’t sure she was ready for such a big step. They weren’t even really dating. Part of her wanted to. She could spend everyday with him. What could be better? The other part told her that was crazy. You can’t just up and move to L.A.!!! She was starting to hate that part of her. Why couldn’t she? Because you have a life in Chicago. She mentally groaned. Shutup. She thought to herself.

Joey could see how surprised she looked, but couldn’t blame her. “Oh, shit, I didn’t mean as a couple, we could have our separate rooms and everything. I just can’t pay for all the rent myself, and I just thought…never mind. I’ll just ask Brant.” Joey realized how stupid he was being. He was letting his heart take over all of his decisions, instead of just using his head. He hoped that things wouldn’t become awkward between them after this.

Jaime looked surprised. “Darren’s moving out?? Is he sure that’s a good idea?? I don’t want him to get hurt.” Jaime was too worried to notice Joey’s hint. “Who are you gonna get to move it??” Jaime asked. “Any guy friends you met up there??” She didn’t really like the idea of him living with another girl. “Maybe you should come back to Chicago.” She said with a laugh. “Just kidding. I know how much you love it there.”

“Yeah, it’s great for them…I mean, they’re completely in love,” he told Jaime. Truthfully, Joey only wished that he could have a relationship just as steady and happy as Chris and Darren’s was. He could only hope. “I guess I could try to get a house with Brant…but, I was really wondering, since my agent could help you find a job and everything…if you wanted to come live here.” Joey’s stomach jumped as he waited for Jaime’s answer.

She shrugged. “Not much,” She said. “Just rehershals and stuff. I’m really excited for everyone to see it…And to see you,” She said with a smile. She missed him. She missed him TOO much. Her crush was begining to become much more than just that and she was terrified that they wouldn’t be able to work it out with the distance they had between them, but still she smiled. Because she didn’t want Joey to know about her fears of the future of their relationship…or lack there of.

Joey needed to spit out what he wanted to say. He had wanted to ask Jaime for quite some time now, but he knew that now would be the most appropriate. “Listen, I don’t know if I should be the one to tell you this, but…Darren’s moving out. He’s gonna live with Chris, and well…I need a roommate.” He didn’t want to live together as a couple, necessarily, but Jaime was also his best friend, and the one he would feel most comfortable living with. He hoped that she would take the hint that he was talking about her.
